A long history of dental excellence
Milpitas Dentist celebrates 45 years of making children smile in Milpitas!
You can hear the happy laughter of children as Dr. Benjamin Cho at Dentistry for Children & Adults Too! gives a “high five” to his 3-year-old patient and then twists a balloon into a puppy for him and one into a flower for his sister. They both walk away smiling from ear to ear. Their mother is smiling too, she is also a patient of Dentistry for Children & Adults Too! She is just one of the many parents that are now bringing their own children to the same dental office they grew up with. “It’s the greatest compliment we could receive” said Dr. Cho, “we love seeing the generations of families.” As the mother is leaving she gives the receptionist, Mary Simoni, a big hug. Is this typical? “When you have been coming here as long as we have, the staff are like family to us” said the mom and Mary agrees. Mary has been the cheerful receptionist at Dentistry for Children & Adults Too! for 23 years, and Registered Dental Assistant Julie Bella has been a valued staff member for 20 years. “We love working with Dr. Cho. He’s not only a great doctor but a wonderful person. We see how much his patients mean to him.” Mary said. Bobbie Cox, Practice Manager for 22 years at Dentistry for Children & Adults Too! wholeheartedly agrees. “We really do feel like our patients are part of our family and I feel very fortunate to work for such a caring doctor. Having our long-term staff working here for decades is a true testament to not only Dr. Cho’s integrity and character as a person, but also to the dedication and excellence in care he provides to his patients.”
August 28th marks the 45-year anniversary for Dentistry for Children & Adults Too! in Milpitas. In a then small, but growing community, Dentistry for Children opened their doors and hearts to the families of Milpitas on August 28th 1972. Founded by pediatric dentist Dr. Michael Harris and Dr. Charles Clayton, Dentistry for Children created a legacy of treating very young and apprehensive children along with children with special needs, all without the need for sedation or general anesthesia. “This is a unique and invaluable service we offer to patients who want to avoid the potential risks associated with sedation and general anesthesia” said Dr. Cho. The original office on Park Victoria played home to thousands of children before moving to their current larger location at 468 E. Calaveras Blvd. in 1979. Dr. Benjamin Cho joined the practice in 1998 after graduating from the University of the Pacific School of Dentistry. Dr. Cho trained under the expert tutelage of pediatric dentist Dr. Michael Harris, so it was a natural transition when Dr. Harris retired leaving the practice in the very capable hands of Dr. Cho, who patients call “Gentle Ben” and long term staff. The 2,400-square foot Calaveras office was designed to set the patients and parents at ease in a clean and modern environment. “The office and the chairs were custom designed to make the kids as comfortable as possible and the area around them is open so they can see other kids” Dr. Cho said. A lot of time and effort is also spent easing children’s fears. “Our biggest challenge is to try to help a child who is apprehensive not to be afraid to go to the dentist,” said Dr. Cho. “It’s most satisfying when that happens.” “We’ve enjoyed watching the generations grow up,” said Dr. Benjamin Cho “and we are proud to have served the children and adults of the Milpitas community for nearly 5 decades.” “We hope to still be here for decades to come!”
In a time when small businesses are part of a bye gone era, it is wonderfully nostalgic to know that here in Milpitas we still have a wonderful and charming small-town business whose patients are treated like family as well as the staff. Dentistry for Children & Adults Too! makes Milpitas smile, literally.
