Isn't my child too young to floss?
One of the most frequent questions I am asked by parents who have young children on their first visit to my office is "Isn't my child too young to floss?" Here's some helpful information on the topic of flossing for your children.
Flossing should start at any age when your child has two or more teeth in side by side contact. Cavities can develop quickly between the teeth and brushing alone is not enough. Ideally flossing should be done after each meal. I realize that very few people will commit that regimen ;-), so at minimum please floss your child's teeth (and you too!) at least once a day before bed. Take great care of your teeth!
